If you’re looking for the best, most efficient way to keep your teeth clean and in good health it is a great time to invest in an electric toothbrush. Why? Because it does most of the work for you and has a ton of benefits that come along with it.

According to the American Dental Association (ADA), both manual and electric toothbrushes accomplish the same end result if used correctly. However, if you’re looking for “easy” then an electric toothbrush is the way to go.

Why People are Making the Switch to an Electric Toothbrush

1) They are EFFECTIVE!

Electric toothbrushes are extremely effective at removing plaque and build up with little effort by the user. Some studies show that the rate of gingivitis in patients drops when switching from a manual toothbrush to an electric. This could be due to the number of rotations it is programmed to do. For people who do not use manual toothbrushes correctly, they will absolutely see postiive results after making the change.

2) Built in Timers

There is a timer built into your electric toothbrush that will run for 2 minutes, making sure you are brushing for the correct amount of time needed. Most of them also have a notification feature that will let you know when to move the toothbrush to a different location in the mouth.

3) Variety of Settings

Electric toothbrushes offer a variety of settings that help with sensor pressure, gum care, deep cleaning, tongue cleaning, whitening and sensitive teeth. A lot of toothbrushes nowadays also come with access to apps that can link to your brushing activity and help with reminders and progress on your oral health.

4) Helps Get Rid of Bad Breath

Cleaning with an electric toothbrush helps with oral health in more ways than you know. They help remove food easier from in between your teeth, as well as tongue, improving all of your oral hygiene.

5) More Strokes

On average – when busing a manual toothbrush – a person will brush 300 strokes. This is assuming that they are brushing their teeth for the full 2 minutes recommended! When using an electric toothbrush, thousands of strokes may occur in the 2 minutes it’s timer is set for. This will guarantee you the best clean possible!

6) Ease of Use for Limited Mobility

People who suffer from arthritis, carpal tunnel, and other developmental disabilities  often do better with an electric brush. This is because of how little movement and rotation is required by the person who is brushing their teeth.

7) Ease of Use for Orthodontic Patients

Patients who wear braces or are going through orthodontic treatment find using this method of brushing the most effective. The pulses and circular motions the brush uses allows the bristles to reach in between brackets to tackle those hard to clean areas. With wires and often times other appliances in the mouth, brushing with a manual toothbrush can be a bit tricky!
