Meet Larissa Freytag, DMD
I love being an orthodontist and creating beautiful and healthy smiles that help improve patients' self-esteem, confidence, and appearance!
I always tell people I have the best career in the world. Not only do I get to create beautiful smiles and promote self-confidence, but I get to formulate amazing relationships with my patients and their families! These last 18 years of practice have been very rewarding.
Personal & Professional Background
I grew up in sunny South Florida and attended the University of Florida, where I earned a BS with honors in statistics. Upon graduation from the University of Florida, I could not pass up the opportunity to attend dental school at an Ivy League university (University of Pennsylvania) on scholarship.
I completed my orthodontic residency at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 2008. Over the next eight years, I gained much experience working at Fry Orthodontics Specialists, a privately owned Kansas practice with a VIP Diamond Plus Invisalign provider status.
Moving to Tucson
In 2016, my family decided to relocate to Tucson, Arizona, to be closer to family and escape the cold Midwest winters.
After moving to Oro Valley, I became a partner at Grinz Orthodontics, where I was the only practicing orthodontist treating patients in the NW Tucson office from May 2016 to March 2020. My staff and I were active sponsors with many local organizations, schools, and sports teams.
Starting Freytag Orthodontics
In March 2020, I left Grinz Orthodontics to start my own practice. It took months of planning, marketing, training, and construction to open the first Freytag Orthodontics location. Our official opening day in Oro Valley was October 19, 2020.

Outside of the Office
I met my husband at the University of Florida, and we have been happily married for over 20 years!
When not in the office, I enjoy hiking, traveling, watching college football, and spending time with my husband, Erik, and our three boys: Talan, Nash, and Dax.
My family has loved living in Oro Valley for the past ten years, and we very much enjoy the small-town feel and the wonderful people who reside in our community.
